Welcome to the first of my series of Reviewcasts here on Geek Node. And what a way to begin.

When I was given the option to see the press screening of Power Rangers I jumped up and down with my hand up saying “pick me, pick me” – not because I was a Power Ranger fan (in fact, I have hardly watched the old series), but because it was the reboot of an era. And which geek doesn’t love a reboot?

Even though Power Rangers was about 5 years or so after my time, I could see how the phenomenon was much to be appreciated the same way I fell into the Thundercats, He-Man and TMNT rage. As fanatics. We always want more.

So, Hollywood gave us more, and more, and more.

I am not much of a writer, I am a talker. Reviewcasts from Geek Node aim to get a feel for a “group think” around a film. Be it from critic or fan. Have a listen to this new format below:

Watch it. Have fun with it. Enjoy it. Power Rangers delivers.

Thank you to all the critics who participated in this Reviewcast.

I loved the film. But others didn't. Whose right, whose wrong? From my perspective, I have to say that they did much with a franchise hard to re-purpose for a 2017 audience - that we should give the makers of the film, respect for. True to the story and characters, moments that were fun and moments that were believably serious, and moments that you were hoping they would put in as a fan - and did.

At the risk of sounding lame instead of witty, I'm going to stick to the basics in this snap bio. I'm radio broadcaster with an affinity for the geek in all of us. I have been involved in radio for the past 16 years, met some cool people, done some cool things - and this is just another really cool thing to add to the list. TMNT fanboy, illustrator, authour, lecturer, consultant and resident "motor-mouth Mabel".
