Movie Features: (Deadpool) Who Is Negasonic Teenage Warhead?

So not everyone who saw Deadpool might know who exactly Negasonic Teenage Warhead is. Oh yas she’s that ‘Emo teenage girl with the name I didn’t quite catch’ seems to be who she’s referred to in general right now…so if you’re wondering who the hell she is exactly keep reading!

Origins

She’s actually a very obscure character with only a handful of appearances across the board in the Marvel Universe.

Her real name is Ellie Phimister and as you guessed it – she’s a mutant. She got her name from a song by Monster Magnet and she’s from Genosha, which is of course the fictional country and homeland for mutants made up by Marvel.

Which reminds me – interesting fact, Genosha was kind of a metaphor for South African Apartheid before it became a mutant homeland! Far out huh?

Anyway back to Teenage Warhead – She’s a student of Emma Frost in her telepathy class and originally appeared in New X-Men issue 115. Since then she’s been an extra at best – having featured in a story featuring the Hellfire Club Inner Circle. Later on she allegedly died in the Necrosha event while resisting the Black Queen.

In Deadpool

In the film Deadpool she’s portrayed by Brianna Hildebrand and it’s unclear whether she will be returning for Deadpool 2 or making appearances in other related Marvel films such as the X-Men franchise.

Due to the popularity of the character in Deadpool though I can speculate that this will not be the last we see of her.
