Legendary Entertainment has won the war and they now own the rights to create a live action Pokémon film and is officially partnering with the Pokémon Company to get things underway.

• Will this movie feature everything you know and love from your childhood?

• Will you finally get to see real live Pokémon on screen, battling it out in epic scale?

• Will you get to see Ash getting the better of Team Rocket and will your childhood crush on Misty finally not be seen as creepy?

– No. No. Oh and, no and no.

Instead you’ll be getting a Detective Pikachu movie because…you know – we totally fucking care to see that.

Detective Pikachu is a recent game released in Japan that introduces a Pikachu…who isn’t the Pikachu we know or care about. The game follows a peculiar talking Pikachu who, despite not being as powerful and nimble as other Pikachu of his kind, is rather intelligent and claims to be a great detective.

Once again in classic fashion it seems the Pokémon Company and Nintendo managed to take one giant leap forward with Pokémon Go and then at the same time fell backwards right on their asses a mere moment later with wasted potential in the form of this decision.

I mean honestly, does anyone care to see this?
