What It’s About
A young woman returns to South Africa from New York, to help her widower father run the struggling family farm. She leaves behind her boyfriend and colleague. On her return she finds her father has become obsessed with brewing craft beer. A stranger in town is scouring the country looking for a new winning beer recipe to take back to his corporate brewing company. It gets complicated she and the stranger start falling for each other, and more so when her boyfriend suddenly come back from America.
What I Thought
Starting out as a typical Afrikaans film, Sonskyn Beperk offers you exactly what you’d expect from start to finish in a very original manner. This film is a simple, charming romantic comedy about a small town girl returning home to find that perfect someone all while some unexpected little events creep up on her.
I’ve never really seen this particular sort of story though and found the insight into the world of brewing craft beer and what goes on behind the scenes interesting. It has some originality and you do notice the writer put some real effort into the story.
While you couldn’t for one second be fooled into thinking this film had a budget big enough to fly the lead actress to New York, you can look past the flaws for the sake of the films simplistic charms. This film is a fun little adventure to undertake while snuggled under a blanket on a Sunday afternoon and would be a valued purchase for your Afrikaans film collection.
DVD Special Features:
• Behind The Scenes
• The Making Of Sonskyn Beperk
What Other People Thought
A thoroughly entertaining movie with a healthy dose of beer brewing and flirting, Sonskyn Beperk is one of the good ones, and we can give the Afrikaans filmmaking community a round of applause for the continuous improvement in its quality of films. – Gabi Zietsman

Werner is a strange one...he quotes a lot of things...incoherently I might add, also he reviews stuff from time to time. We still don't truly understand what he is or where he came from.
To quote him verbatim:
Make sure they see my twitter handle so I can get hookers and drugs.
