Well, should I go into what I really liked first and then go into the abyss of NO. Well let’s do that then.

A woman who is connected to her twin sister that goes to find her sister and stumbles upon Japanese tales, a tall handsome guy and the forest that is, bewitching, if that is the word. I enjoyed the eerie dark suspense it brings to the table. The story of the Japanese suicide forest and the adventure. It has some very good scare tactics and effects or Special FX as I know it and consist of practical and digital which I find connects when done well.

It is cast around a missing twin sister in Japan (suicide forest) Aokigahara Forest. Sara (Natalie Dormer), a young American who travels to Japan to go and find her sister gets entangled in a mystery surrounding Aokigahara Forest. Meeting a young expatriate Aiden (Taylor Kinney) who leads Sara through the forest to locate and find her sister. Sara is warned about the forest and to stay on the path. Her investigation goes deep into the forest which plunges her into a dark world where the angry and tormented souls of the dead prey on who enter the forest.

Why is it that people do not listen? At every turn, Sara shuts down myth and beliefs. History is in Sara’s face and she still ignores everything. It could just be me, but I would have search parties during the day and not at night like these people do.

The casting is done well. I felt all the emotions were true and the story was well done except the not listening part.

Special Featurette:

I really enjoyed the special featurette. It gives insight on the film and a bit of history on Aokigahara Forest which I am a fan of. I do enjoy Japanese myths etc.

It is short and sweet and it shows how they go in-depth with characters and the forest itself.

I enjoyed the movie very much and yes I think the Japanese could have done this better but alas it still worked for me.
