Hot Toys: Deadpool

Yes, the Hot Toys Deadpool has finally graced our shores. It was a long wait but so worth it. The box is a glorious piece of art itself with “real” bullet holes and striking images.

Articulation

The figure is fairly articulated, I say this simply for the reason that it comes with a user guide on how to (or not to) manoeuvre the hands and limbs. The suit is a pretty snug fit much like in the movie and as such hinders full articulation like some of the other Hot Toys.

It isn’t a major issue as I got some pretty wicked poses, though I have not really pushed the envelope to be frank. There is a healthy helping of hands to maximise these various poses but sadly no “ flippin the bird ” hand.

The head feels a little restricted due to it not being double jointed.

Authenticity

This pretty much nails it, but without a second unmasked head, I can’t help but feel a a little robbed. I would have really like to own “ the offspring of two fugly avocados after doing the nasty “.

Still, the material of the suit feels like a cross between pleather and vinyl. Don’t get me wrong it actually feels like the way you imagine the actual suite to feel. Armed with enough pouches to make a pooch jump and weapons to make a mercenary smile.

Accessories

Ah yes, the accessories. Unmasked head aside this has a fantastic range. As I mentioned there are 5 pairs to mix things up. His trademark katanas are my favourite, made from real metal that feels like tempered steel but with a slightly brushed look and actually pretty much sharp. Trust me i got poked. The other highlight is the magnetic faces. Yes you read that correctly. Grafted by Magneto himself, the black face plates can be changed to offer different looks to Pooolie.

The guns while not plastic are highly detailed, the pistols cock back to reveal a round in the chamber and the magazine comes out. Clearly time was taken with this piece. Finally the base, simple yet striking and feels solid and heavy like expensive things should.

Value

There is no long reasoning needed. But like Deadpool I love the sound of my own voice and will give one regardless. This is an all round piece, meaning it has monetary inflation potential and it is simply an excellent piece that looks true to the muse and will look great in any collection.

If you don’t own a Hot Toy and are deliberating on getting one but just wasn’t quite sure. Fear not Deadpool has arrived. I think the price is fair and considering most Deadpool collectibles rise in value a safe bet.

Okay let me help you break this down- I bought the Sideshow Deadpool 1/6 Scale figure a little while back.

Sideshow Collectibles is the superior brand (or so I was told) and I was convinced at the time that THAT version of the character was THE Deadpool figure to get.

Alas, falling feet and poor workmanship do not a winner make.

This version was cheaper and made better.

It feels solid. In other words it beats it closest competitor in every way.
