Welcome to the next edition of let’s play, today I will be playing Layers of Fear developed by Blooper Team. I will be playing it on the PlayStation 4 but it’s also available on Windows, Linux, Mac OS and Xbox one.

It’s a psychological horror game that focuses on exploration and storytelling, with the occasional well placed jump scare and will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. The objective of the game is to complete the painting and reveal the true picture.

As the player you will assume the role of a disturbed painter trying to complete his masterpiece, as you start the house seems normal. But after a while you notice that your surroundings change as soon as you turn around at times. This feature of the game reminded me of Rose Red where the house would shift changing completely.

There are no less than six parts that the player needs to collect to complete the painting, and as you wander through the house you will also come across drawings that you can collect to earn an achievement. Your actions during the game determine the ending of which there are three possible outcomes.

Do you think its safe to turn around ?

If you purchase the inheritance edition you will also receive an extra story mode. In this mode you play as the painter’s daughter and you will be relieving her childhood and how she experienced the events that drove her father further into insanity.

In this video I will just be completing the first of the six parts, just to give you an idea of what you can expect. Personally I feel the developers did an amazing job of streamlining the morphing of the house. Thou the game is a bit on the short side the story will draw you in and at times scare the pants off you.

That’s all from me, until next week everybody.

I'm 35 obsessed with anything gaming and technology related. Staying in a quiet town does have its drawbacks as we don't have the fastest internet, but that wont stop me from enjoying my passion for gaming. Just a quick shout out to my lovely wife who supports my dreams and my friends and all the crazy moments we have encountered in games.
