A Guide To Visiting The Warner Bros Studios Making of Harry Potter London

This week I achieved two life goals. Firstly, I finally travelled to London and secondly I got to fulfill my Harry Potter geeking out fantasies at Warner Bros Studios .

With the hefty price tag of £35 most of us saffas probably clutched our hearts just reading that. But believe me, when I say it is absolutely worth it. For three hours you are going to be completely immersed in the wonderful wizardry world of Harry Potter. There will be eye porn galore, magical noms and you’ll even be sick of yourself gasping and exclaiming “ Oh my god. This is so cool !” by the end of the tour.

Here are just some of my highlights (I don’t want to take the magic out of the whole tour for you.)

I went around 2 pm in the afternoon on a Sunday and it was quite busy. If you aren’t into crowds you could try an early morning weekday spot. But it is one of the most popular attractions in Britain for obvious reason.

When you start the tour you are taken into a huge movie theatre where Ron, Harry and Hermione join us once again to tell us a bit more about the awesome we are about to witness. After the short film, your anticipation will be high and it will take a lot not to push the little kids ( who weren’t even born when the first movie came out, let alone old enough to read the first book ) out of the way as the massive doors to the Great Hall open.

This is the exact set that was used to film the scenes in the movies. Yes, 400 cast members were once stuffed into this singular room to film some of the most enchanting scenes in film. The very scenes that made us all hate our school and develop an early onset of FOMO. The hall is packed with memorabilia such as the original outfits, decor and of course, the Sorting Hat. Where all my Slytherins at? Holla at me in the comments!

Next, you start your walk around all the interactive displays. There you will find interesting trivia, more props from the film and the actual sets used to film some of the most famous scenes! If you look closely, you will even spot some magical mischief happening here and there. Look out for the Goblet of Fire , the Philosophers Stone , the Triwizard Cup . all the Horcruxes and so so so much more!

After your eyes have literally taken in more awesome than you think is possible, there is a short break at the “Back Lot”. Here you can fork out some muggle money to taste delicious Butter Beer before continuing with the tour. After this geeky gastronomy experience, you will head out and discover Privet Drive , the Night Bus and the beautiful Hogwarts Bridge (which is not as big as you might think!). And if you like chess, you’re in for a great surprise (wink, wink).

The final part of the tour will see you discovering the magic world the special effects team created. From the meticulous latex masks to the gigantic monsters, prepare to be in awe of the artistic talent that went into making the 8 films. As you delve deeper into the hard work that went on behind the scenes, you will eventually find yourself in Diagon Alley . Yes. The actual Diagon Alley from the film – complete with Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes!

Before exiting the tour, you will come across a huuuuge model of Hogwarts that was used to film all those gorgeous distance shots. Then comes probably the most fantastical souvenir shop you will ever see in your life. I’m warning you now – if you are the type of person that can’t control the itch for your credit card, bring a responsible adult with you. They have everything a Harry Potter fan could possibly want. From wands to scarves and jumpers in all the house colours to those ridiculously priced movie memorabilia items that you need to have.

It will be a hard not to run around screaming “Shut up and take my money you filthy muggles!”. The struggle is real folks.
