I’ve grown up watching Star Trek. In fact, it and Star wars are what got me into sci-fi in the first place. I was so obsessed with the worlds that were depicted in the show that my parents bought me Star trek pajamas before I was 10 (I still have them at home). The recent J.J. Abrams helmed movies which rebooted the entire series and were set in a different timeline were not widely welcomed by some sectors of the Star trek fandom and probably due to the fact that they were seen as having rewritten established canon and rewriting the rules set by the long running shows and movies.

When news broke that Paramount pictures were planning on producing a new Star Trek series due to air next year, there was little information as to whether this show will be set within established Star Trek canon or in the Rebooted universe.

Well, according to a new rumour, the series will be set before The Next Generation and will not take place on the Enterprise, but will instead follow a different crew on a different ship. It also states that it will be an anthology series with each season being set at a different point in time within the Star Trek universe.

It certainly sounds interesting and I do think that long-time fans have been waiting for quite a while for the return of a proper Star Trek series to air again. The last series, Star Trek Enterprise, was cancelled at a point, in my opinion, when the show was actually becoming more interesting. It was suffering from low viewership numbers.

In the meantime, we can wait for the next movie in the rebooted movie franchise, Star trek Beyond, which is due out on 22 July 2016

One can only dream about where they plan to take the series and hopefully it will boldly go where the show has never gone before.

Metal Pangolin

His arms are heavy, knees weak, eyes are straining, ‘cause he’s been reading comics from DC, Marvel, Image etc. more than even he can name them. He’s nerdy, but on the surface he looks calm and ready, to review comics, and lets not all forget that, when he writes stuff, it makes people laugh out loud, in real life, he almost never opens his mouth , so watch out....
