When Netflix released in South Africa many people, including myself, were overjoyed. Netflix is the premier streaming service globally and their exclusive series ranks as some of the best shows out there at the moment. Us South Africans have been patiently waiting for the service to arrive here and some were a not as patient and just used VPN services to watch US Netflix without a lot of fuss.
When it released, our hopes were quelled quite a bit when we found out that we won’t have access to the gigantic catalogue that Netflix is known for. Instead we only got a handful of series and movies, but we still got their exclusive shows which was a good consolation. However, many weren’t happy with the smaller catalogue.
Netflix South Africa is growing, but not at a blistering pace whatsoever. When it was released there were 678 titles on the service and now they have 695. That’s an increase of 17 new titles which is certainly not going to shatter any world records or anything. Still, some growth is better than no growth and it’s good to know they’re making an active effort to bring content over here.
MyBroadband has the complete catalogue for you to view over at their site. Go give it a look!
