Video Game News: Sniper Elite 4 Announced For This Year, Takes Place In Italy

My favourite weapon in games is probably any type of sniper rifle. There is just something magical about shooting a dude in the head from another town over with deadly precision. I’m more of a single-shot high accuracy guy in general so the sniper rifle fits my playstyle like a glove. Sniper Elite is a franchise that caters to crazy people like myself by providing an authentic World War era sniping experience with technical sniping techniques and very satisfying slow-mo X-ray shots to a dude’s head or balls (not kidding).

Sniper Elite 3 released in 2014 and received reasonably good praise with it offering more open-ended sniping gameplay where you can explore a big battlefield and choose your methods of attack. It took place in Africa, which isn’t really a common WW2 setting that is often used and it was a refreshing experience at the least. Now they’re releasing a new one in another setting that hasn’t really received a lot of airtime.

Sniper Elite 4 was announced to be released this year and it will take place in Italy. We only really have an announcement trailer to go off of for now, but it is enough to get me interested at least. The game has this description:

From sun-drenched Mediterranean coastal towns, to colossal Nazi megastructures, daunting forests and giddying mountain monasteries, Sniper Elite 4 will offer breathless emergent stealth action and unrivalled sniping freedom across maps many times the size of those seen in Sniper Elite 3.

That’s some pretty lofty promises that would make me excited if they are realised. We’ll just have to wait and see if they deliver on them.
