We reported a while ago on how Driveclub’s developer Evolution Studios was closed down. Following their closure, other companies started looking to hire the employees that formed part of Evolution Studios. Codemasters were the ones to finally take these talented people on board due to their heavy involvement in the racing genre.

Codemasters has acquired most of the old staff of Evolution Studios and also made former Group Director, Mike Hocking, the company’s new VP of Product Development. The acquisition of these staff members was heralded as a move to strengthen Codemaster’s position as one of the world’s premier racing game developers.

Of course, the previous properties of Evolution Studios still belong to Sony, but most of the staff are now residing at Codemasters. This is great news because it would be a shame to waste such talent and if the folks at Evolution Studios can continue their work somewhere else, that’s excellent. I look forward to what can aspire from this likely partnership.
