Aliens: Colonial Marines was a stain on the gaming landscape when it released. What was promised as a shooter in the universe of Aliens was quickly revealed to be a bland, broken mess that nobody should be forced to play. It was one of the biggest disappointments of 2013 and fans were both angry and very sad. The pre-release footage painted the game in a very positive light and when it released, nothing of the promised stuff was in the final game. It was a sham and a tragedy.
While most of us forgot about the piece of dog trash, there’s still some people that hold out hope and were willing to put in the hours to fix the broken disaster.
A bunch of enterprising modders went to task with fixing the game by overhauling its mechanics and implementing things that should have been there in the first place. They tuned the Alien AI, fixed the shooting, did a plethora of performance enhancements and so on. It’s called the ACM Overhaul and it’s available right now if you still have the game (why do you, you poor soul?
