Video Game News: No Man's Sky's Post-Rock Soundtrack Will Release At The Same Time As The Game

Post-rock is a really weird, but incredible genre. Most of it consists of long-form atmospheric pieces that use a broad scope of instruments to create a sort of peaceful ambiance. I’ve been listening to post-rock for a few years now and while it’s an acquired taste and certainly not something you listen to at the gym, the music within the genre can be absolutely breathtaking. Also, the music is perfect for soundtracks. Many post-rock bands moonlight as composers for soundtracks such as the band Explosions in the Sky that did a bunch of soundtracks between album releases.

Another post-rock band, 65daysofstatic, has been very busy composing music for a particular highly anticipated game: No Man’s Sky. This makes me all kinds of excited since I’m such a purveyor of post-rock. The band’s album, No Man’s Sky: Music for an Infinite Universe will release on the 17th of June and the actual game releases on the 24th of June. It will include 10 tracks of original music as well as a collection of soundscapes and so on.

It will release in vinyl, CD and as a digital download.

This is amazing news for yours truly and if I wasn’t hyped for the game already, this pushed it much further. You can listen to one of the tracks from the soundtrack below, titled Supermoon.
