65 million, the population of the United Kingdom, according to Wikipedia. Why is this number important? Because GTA V has shipped 65 Million copies. Just think about that for a second. There’s enough GTA V copies out there for every person right now in the UK. That’s just borderline insanity. GTA V is unequivocally one of the most successful games in gaming history and it’s also much loved by everyone.
Its overwhelming success could also partially be because they sold so well already on last-gen consoles and then also made the jump to new-gen where a lot of original players purchased the game again. I know I did. This information comes to us from 2K’s recent financial call where it outlined its most successful franchises with GTA V taking the forefront.
65 million, seriously?
