I may make fun of Quantic Dream a lot with their mad leader David Cage running his mouth more than Donald Trump at a Mexican buffet, but their games have a lot of merit. They pioneered the “interactive movie” movement and if you were to set aside your traditional expectations of what constitutes as “video game”, then you can find a lot in their narratives and ideas. Their new game, Detroit: Become Human is the next step in their evolution and the trailer for it looks pretty fascinating.
David Cage has come out to say that the game will be around 8 to 10 hours long, which is a fairly decent runtime already. But the focus is placed on the replayability of the game and how you can develop a new story every time you play. He mentioned that the opening scene in the game has 6 potential outcomes, each with their own consequences and that you will have to live with your decisions.
Of course, this is David Cage, but I’m interested to see what they can do with this sci-fi premise.
