Movie News: Trainspotting 2 confirmed

According to a new report, filmmaker Danny Boyle is eyeing the opportunity to make a sequel to his critically acclaimed Trainspotting. After a rousing success with his now Oscar contender Steve Jobs he has made the announcement that he wants to tackle his original indie film next for a much sought after sequel.

The only thing that’s holding him back from doing it right now is the fact that despite the four main actors’ willingness to return to the project, they are currently tied up with projects. So the main thing is just that he is waiting for everyone’s schedules to become clear enough, at the same time, to begin filming.

As you no doubt know, Ewan McGreggor has become a breakout movie star, continuing with this career with upcoming films such as Our Kind of Traitor, Miles Ahead and the live-action adaptation of the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast opposite Harry Potter-star Emma Watson.

The other 3 actors have very successful television careers with Jonny Lee Miller currently starring as Sherlock Holmes in the modern-adaptation of the detective’s adventures in Elementary . Robert Carlysle of course stars as Rumpelstiltskin in Once Upon A Time and of course Ewen Bremner will be starring in the upcoming period-series The Devil You Know.

The screenplay is apparently ready for Trainspotting 2 , which I assume is based on Irvine Welsh’s sequel to Trainspotting (in book form), titled Porno, which was released in 2002.
