TV Series News: Arrow Season 4 is purportedly more lighthearted

If there’s one thing The CW’s Arrow has earned over the years, is that it’s become known as the darker, more broody sibling in the DC TV Universe. Of course The Flash has become known as the more lighthearted show.

The Green Arrow always came across as a very lighthearted character to me in the DC Comics Universe, so it has always troubled me as to why The CW took the dark and broody route. Especially considering that they already have a dark and broody character in the form of Batman. I guess with Batman being too “larger than life” for a small screen presence, they had to fill that void with a different character.

After the semi-happy ending that Season 3 got. Showrunner Marc Guggenheim had this to say:

“It still feels like Arrow , but at the same time, Oliver’s got a new outlook on life,” Guggenheim says. “We’re driving conflict to the show in ways that we never would have in the first three years. So it still feels like Arrow , but it’s a different take on the show.”

To show just how much the show is set to change, you can check out the above trailer, which appears to show Oliver proposing marraige to Felicity. OH MY.
