You guys may recall that a few weeks ago it was revealed that the French-Language animated series Valerian would be getting a big screen adaptation. We can now confirm that a Teaser Trailer will be launching soon to show off a little more about what you can expect from the adaptation.
The countdown started last night at 10pm and it is set for 3 days. We’ll, of course be sharing that trailer with you when it does go live.

ALPHA CHRONOLOGY
— BIRTH OF A SYMBOL —
1960-70: A NASA research team is assigned to explore the possibility of sending a space station into orbit around the Earth.
1975: Astronaut Thomas Stafford and cosmonaut Alexis Leonov meet when the American Apollo spacecraft and the Soviet Soyuz capsule dock in orbit around the Earth. The first US-Soviet handshake in space ensues.
1983: Launch of the Freedom space station project, with Ronald Reagan’s support.
1985: Announcement by ESA (European Space Agency), CSA (Canadian Space Agency) and JAXA (Japanese Space Agency) of their participation in the space station project.
1993: In a difficult financial context, plans for the space station are scaled down. The project’s official name is Alpha. ROCOSMOS (Russia’s federal space agency) announces its participation and becomes a major protagonist in the program. The station is planned to comprise two sections, one American, the other Russian.
1998: Station assembly begins. Sixteen nations are represented (11 European countries, plus Canada, Brazil, Japan, the USA and Russia). The first component to be launched into orbit, Zarya, is followed by the Unity node, which has berthing ports for six further modules.
2001: The name Alpha is ditched in favor of the International Space Station (ISS) after the Russians argue that Alpha is a misnomer since the first space station in orbit around the Earth was Mir.
2009: A new life-support system allows six people to be based permanently on the station.
2013: The station now comprises thirteen modules.
2017: The ISS is now complete and operational: 108 meters long, 74 meters wide, 400 metric tons and 900 cubic meters, of which 400 are habitable. The station comprises sixteen modules. The Europeans’ Hermes space shuttle project, abandoned in 1995, is relaunched. The shuttle will supply the Columbus module, the Europeans’ space laboratory component of the ISS.
April 12, 2019 : NASA, ROCOSMOS and ESA announce an “open-door” policy toward any nation that wishes to dock a module on ISS. Numerous nations declare their interest in the project. A new space race begins.
September 18, 2019: After protracted negotiations, two Chinese modules, Tiangong-3 and Shenzhou-14, dock with the station. Captain Wuang Hu leads a team of scientists (chemists, physicists and biologists).
February 26, 2020: An Indian vessel, Ramayana-1, brings a 40m module, Brahma-2. The crew of three scientists is led by Captain Ajay Patel.
March 31, 2021: Arrival of the Salah al-Din 1 and its 100m module, Al-Hakam 2, launched by a coalition of Middle Eastern and North African nations headed up by ISA (Iranian Space Agency). The vessel is commanded by Captain Hakim Kelhadi and crewed by fifteen scientists.
October 13, 2025: Arrival of Yul-Ryeo 1 and its 50m module, Mago-3, launched by KARI (Korean Aerospace Research Institute), commanded by Captain Kwan-Jung and crewed by ten scientists.
May 23, 2026: Faced with an influx of modules from every continent on Earth, NASA assembles a vast new connecting module, Symbiosis, which is over 100 meters long and has over 150 docking ports.
September 21, 2027: Arrival of Alicanto-3 and its 110m launchedmodule, Orpheo 1, sent by a coalition of Latin American countries under the leadership of AEB (the Brazilian space agency). Captain Joël Ribeiro is in command and the crew is made up of forty scientists.
November 29, 2027: Arrival of Pacific Pride 5 and its 50m module Eternity Island, launched by a coalition of Oceanic nations led by Australia’s CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation). It is commanded by Captain Artis Reynold and crewed by twenty scientists.
February 5, 2029: Arrival of Mandela-1 and its 50m module Springbok’s Touch, launched by a coalition of countries from Central and Southern Africa led by SANSA (South Africa’s space agency). Captain Matt Smith is in command of a crew of twenty- three scientists.
2029: Every country on Earth is now represented by at least one scientist on the space station.
2035 : Irishman Sheldon Farnsworth, winner of the 2026 Nobel Prize for Physics, invents the gravitational turbine, enabling artificial gravity to be generated on the space station. NASA purchases the patent for $15 billion. At the same time, NASA implants a base on planet Mars, where five scientists will live all year around.
December 18, 2037 : Installation of the gravitational turbines on the space station is completed. Artificial gravity enables scientists and astronauts to move and work more efficiently. Construction work took nearly two years and required over 800 space workers.
October 11, 2043 : The presence of scientists from many different countries leads to the creation of the World Sciences Council (WSC) to supervise exchanges between the station’s various scientific hubs. For the whole of the Earth’s population, ISS becomes a symbol of peace and sharing.
2045 : In recognition of its international character, the UN creates an agency, UN Space, on the station, whose official name becomes Alpha once more.
2047 : A media unit is created to promote the peaceful image of Alpha on Earth, where conflicts are recurrent. The dual aim is to incite more scientists to request postings to the station and show the world that, whatever their color or creed, humans can work hand in hand.
2050 : UN Space accepts the media unit’s recommendation to allow handpicked tourists on board the station. Kane-1, the first private module reserved for tourism to dock, is over 150 meters long with accommodation for 100 people at any one time.
2051 : As more civilians arrive on the station, the first police unit is set up.
2054 : Earth’s population now tops 9 billion and Alpha is acknowledged as humanity’s best hope, especially with regard to discovering new, habitable planets. The World Sciences Council launches the Eneus space exploration program. A giant “shipyard” module docks with the station. Over 500 meters long, Babylon will enable exploratory spacecraft to be built on site.
2056: A dozen Discoverer spaceships are built. Some will later be converted into tourist ships for the first civilian moon flights.
2060 : The WSC and UN Space fund the construction of a new communication satellite, Omega. The project is headed by Emmet Frink, an American inventor who has developed new theories on wave emissions. Omega’s purpose is to send signals into space to facilitate the discovery of new planets, as well as determining if there are other life forms in the universe.
2068 : Omega is completed with a capacity to send signals fifty times more powerful than any previously sent into space. For years, Omega detects nothing (implying that humanity is indeed alone out there). Project Omega is seen as a failure by the scientific community.
2069 : Three new tourist modules—Hilton Space, Club Med Discovery and Artemis—are berthed.
July 11, 2070 : UN Space declares English to be the official language of Alpha.
2083 : The Discoverers project is abandoned in favor of the Travelers, so-called clean spacecraft that are solar-powered. A fleet of twenty Travelers is built. Expeditions venture ever further across the galaxy. The new fleet also enables the first mass expeditions to Mars to be launched.
2084: Under the command of Grégoire Apostoloff, Traveler-3 (aka The Dragonfly) lands on Mars, bringing 500 civilians whose mission is to colonize the red planet.
2086: Commanded by Captain Stan Whedon and with a crew of thirty-four scientists, Traveler-12 (aka Balboa) lands on Europa, one of Jupiter’s moons. A habitable scientific complex is soon completed and living conditions on the moon are considered “favorable.”
2087: Traveler-17 (Confucius) lands on Titan, one of Saturn’s moons. Captain Zou Kagawa commands a crew of twelve scientists. A habitable scientific complex is soon constructed.
2099: Omega makes contact with an extraterrestrial species, but it takes four months for the two parties to establish a mutually comprehensible language that allows them to exchange their first words in their native tongues.
2015: Early telecommunications between Alpha scientists and an extraterrestrial species begins.
2131: The first extraterrestrial ship settles in orbit around the planet. An emissary is invited onto Alpha.
2135: The first extraterrestrial ship docks with Alpha.
