For the first time at GeekFest, we will be presenting a panel on Indie Game Development in South Africa!
This will be a platform for four of the most prominent developers in our local industry to talk about various topics surrounding video game development including processes, challenges, inspiration, etc.
Panellists include:
Travis Bulford
Celestial Games
Travis Bulford founding member of Celestial games and lover of coffee. Published 2 games and an HD rewrite of the one. Currently working on Battle Arena Drones battlearenadrones.com and dabbling in a few other projects.
Chris Bischoff
The Brotherhood Games
The Brotherhood is an indie studio lead by brothers Christopher and Nicolas Bischoff and is currently based in Cape Town, South Africa. They have almost two decades of experience managing large scale design projects and more recently the crowd-funded games STASIS and CAYNE .
STASIS intertwines a gruesome narrative with retro adventure gameplay. Combine items, interact with computers and solve puzzles while experiencing the gritty atmosphere. Crowdfunded in 2013 and released in 2015, Stasis went on to win many awards including AdventureGamers.com Adventure Game Of The Year.
We are currently working on BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION – an epic post-apocalyptic adventure game set in Africa.
Geoff Burrows
Zero Degrees Games
Geoff Burrows is the founder and sole full-time member of Zero Degrees Games, which recently released its inaugural title Among the Innocent: A Stricken Tale . ATI features a blend of classic point-and-click adventure gameplay and modern first-person exploration and takes place on an eerie abandoned farm in the eastern Free State, South Africa. When not working on spooky farm games, Geoff spends his time herding cats and making 3D art for Celestial Games.
Quinton Delpeche
Gobbo Games
Gobbo Games was founded in 2008 by Quinton Delpeche, while he was doing the Game Developers Course from Train2Game in the United Kingdom. Shortly after that Matthew Leach, who was a long-time friend of Quinton’s, joined the team and they started working on the Soul Wars project. With no resources, space or money, they continued doing their normal day jobs and worked tirelessly on Soul Wars as part of their portfolio project for the Train2Game course. Unfortunately , in 2009, personal circumstances forced Quinton to leave the United Kingdom and drop out of the Train2Game course, but this was not the end of Gobbo Games.
Gobbo Games has recently released Riders of Asgard .
