What’s cooler than Vanilla Ice in sitting at the north pole sipping a frozen margarita? How about a Spartan squad in a controlled slide down a mountain, destroying Covenant with every step while Muse – Knights of Cydonia blares in the background? How does that work for you?!
It’s nearly time, ladies and gentlemen. The franchise that pretty much singlehandedly made xbox a success is back for more space based pew pew’ing! It’s almost time to murder aliens with next to no concern about their complex social structure. Yeah, take that Covenant grunt who just wanted to feed his family, that’ll teach you to be conscripted at gunpoint! Grrr! Human power!
Okay, despite that completely irrelevant moment I am a MASSIVE Halo fan, Reach being my absolute favourite, but I played them all, and loved them all. So just imagine how many tingles I got in my jibbly bits from the released gameplay trailer. If you’re thinking a lot, then you’re grossly underestimating the situation down there. We get to play with a squad of Spartans again! Blue Team being hunted by Fireteam Osiris… that’s a whole lot of special right there!
The Oni Corporation is up to it’s usual nefarious tricks, Halsey is being all mysterious and scientific, Master Chief is missing (presumed a traitor), and Fireteam Osiris are on the hunt for him. Oh yeah, and Nathan Fillion is reprising his role as Gunnery Sergeant Buck… and apparently he’s a Spartan now too. Not sure how that happened, but I can’t wait to see him kick some ass!
DIS GOAN BE GUD!
Key Features (from press release):
• An intense new story on a galactic scale: Play as the Master Chief and Spartan Locke as the hunt plays out across three new worlds.
• Your team is your weapon: Choose how to achieve objectives while playing solo with AI teammates or with friends in a 4-player cooperative experience.
• Warzone: New, massive-scale multiplayer mode that supports 24-player battles with both friendly and enemy AI dropping in. It’s nonstop action when you confront Spartans, Covenant, and Forerunners while trying to complete a variety of objectives.
• Arena: Halo’s established legacy of pure, skill-based 4-vs-4 competitive combat.
• New rewards system: Earn Requisition Points throughout the multiplayer experience, redeemable for REQ packs that deliver new gear, weapons, vehicles, and more.
• Extensive Multiplayer Content: Receive more than 15 new free maps and earn fresh, new content like weapons and gear, each month after launch.
Halo 5: Guardians releases on Xbox One on the 27th October, 2015.
What do you think this spells for the Halo series? Is Master Chief going to be replaced by Fireteam Osiris? Will the Flood come back and wipe out everything after all? How on earth did Dr Halsey grow her arm back, or were we seeing a flashback to Castle Base under Reach? Will Covenant Grunt 112735 ever see his children again? Let us know what you think below!
