Cosplaying is on the rise in South Africa, and it’s easy to see why. As one of the most expressive and fun loving celebrations of our geeky passions it’s an absolute pleasure to see all manner of people dressed to the nines in their favourite outfits.

To that end we’re lucky enough to have Baka Sakura on the podcast this week, an amazing cosplayer who goes all out in portraying a wide array of characters from Chewbacca to gender-bent Gaara!

As someone who has only recently come into contact with cosplayers it was great to get a peek behind the curtain at the people who go out of their way to add a hell of a lot of colour and life to the conventions we all love so much. Here’s a few pictures of the amazing costumes that Sakura makes and appears in, I think you’ll agree that she’s absolutely killing it.

So strap on a pair of latex elf ears, and follow me down the rabbit hole!
