rAge Cape Town: Essentials Checklist!

Oh yes ladies and gentlemen, rAge Cape Town is very, VERY nearly upon us… are you ready? You’re not. You think you are, but you’re not. Do you have your sonic screwdriver? See, woefully unprepared. Don’t worry little one, Uncle Pikey will set out a list so you know that you’ve got all contingencies covered. You’re welcome!

Backpack: Swag is great, but the last thing you want to be doing is lugging around armfuls of geeky goodies. Trust me, I’ve seen the stuff being setup in some of the booths (I’m looking at you Dark Carnival!), and you are going to end up feeling like a fully laden Sherpa in no time. Tote bags are no good, you need something comfortable but with enough space to fit all your new toys, so laptop bags are out. Proper backback, CHECK!

Water Bottle: It’s going to get WARM. Not joking, I was there today with only about 40 people and it was plenty warm, it’s going to get hot and sticky in there when it’s packed. Stay hydrated folks! Water bottle, CHECK!

Speaking of hot and sticky, light weight clothing or you’ll be leaving a sweat trail from one end of the expo to the other. No hoodies, I will bite the shin of anyone I see wearing a hoody… and that is not something you want to have happen! Light weight clothes, CHECK!

Wallet: Do not forget your wallet. Some of the stuff I’ve seen for sale is EPIC, and I’m not sure you’ll be able to get your hands on it again. Wallet, CHECK!

Zombie Survival Kit: I’m not sure if you’ve been to Grand West during the day before, but I’m 99.9% sure I saw at least a few of the walking dead shuffling around the gambling pits today. Stay alert, STAY SAFE! Zombie Survival Kit, CHECK!

The best, and most important, thing to bring with you is a cheesy grin because we’re going to the first ever rAge Cape Town BABAAAAAY! The first of many awesome events, finally Cape Town gets to enjoy what those Joburg folk have been enjoying for years! It’s going to be great, the DGL Masters arena is looking absolutely incredible, we’re going to be able to see some of the best cosplayers in the country, the booths are packed with awesome goods… and there are plenty of game stations for you to get your grubby mitts all over!

We’ll see you there, if you spot any Geek Nodians in snazzy blue shirts then feel free to come and A: say hi, B: offer us cash money in return for hugs.
