Board Games: Games I Used To Play

Before starting this article I had to get the perfect title. “Retro games” was one and I realised that some of these games are not that old, I simply find them outdated. Now without stepping on any toes, some of these games are still to this day extremely fun, while some of them I want to throw into the fiery depths of a volcano.

I am basing the order of the games on how I remember being introduced to them. (This is by no means a complete list of every game I’ve ever played)

LUDO

This is one of the first games I remember playing as a child. You roll the dice and make your way around the board. Roll a 6 and you can place another piece on the board. 1st player to make it home in the center was declared the winner. I can remember hours of fun with this simplistic game! And given the chance I will give it a whirl even today.

GUESS WHO?

Guess Who? Is a Face Guessing game where you would give your opponents clues of who your character is. For example you might say ” He has a mustache.” your opponent will knock down all the faces on their board without mustaches to try and guess your character before you can guess theirs.

RUMMIKUB

To this day I am really unsure about the rules of this game, but I was told to match numbers and you really want the smug looking smiley face 🙂

BATTLESHIP

THIS GAME!!! I spent hours playing this game before lending it to a friend and never got it back 🙁 You set up your ships on your grid and play against your opponent by guessing where their ship might be.

MONOPOLY

CAST IT IN THE FIRE!!!!

CLUEDO

The murder mystery game for the whole family!!! I fondly remember hours upon hours of playing Cluedo with the family.

The list could go on for ever! These were just some of the games that I spent my time on! Compared to the Boardgames I play these days the rulebooks were much thinner and the rules easier to learn.
