A party game for horrible people

Cards Against Humanity is a card based party game where players fill in the blank using mature content phrases printed on playing cards. For 4 to 20+ players and ages 17+. setup of the game takes 1-2 minutes and the playtime is based on number of players. The game was created by a group of Highland Park High School alumni as a New Year’s Eve party game, funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign that went live on 1 December 2010 and met its goal of USD 4 000.00 in just 2 weeks and proceeded to raise USD 15 000.00 (about 400% of its original goal) on the campaign’s conclusion on 30 January 2011. The game concept is simple and is backed up by wicked funny and politically incorrect content that will leave you in stitches! What sets this game apart from card games I’ve seen before is the fact that the official website has a link you can download all the cards for free and print your own set of cards. This is possible since the game is available under a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 2.0 license. That means you can use, remix, and share the game for free, but you can’t sell it without their permission

Game Components:

The 550 cards are packaged in a simple black box. You don’t know what you are getting yourself into as you open up the seemingly innocent little box revealing the small rule booklet and the set of cards. You might think at this point in time that what harm can come from playing a little ole card game. This all falls away fast once the first round starts and everyone gasps at the cards in their hands!

How to Play:

To start out the game everyone draws 10 white answer cards. And here is where you ask yourself what have I gotten myself into? The official C.A.H. rules state that the person who most recently pooped begins as the Card Czar and draws a Black Card reading it out loud. The black cards either present a fill in the blank statement or they ask a question that needs to be answered. All players then choose their white card(s) that they think stand the best chance and hand them facedown to the Card Czar. The Card Czar shuffles all the answers and re-reads all the answers (through breathless giggles most of the time). He then chooses the best/funniest response and the corresponding person receives the black card as a Awesome Point, the chosen player is the Card Czar for the new round. Everyone draws back up to 10 answer cards for the new round. The first player to 10 awesome points win!!! The rules are flexible and can be altered with the many house rules listed in the manual and website.

With bigger groups the game tends to stretch out quite significantly with packs being reshuffled more than once and used cards came back up again and again.

What a game. This fun card game really appeals to my dark humor and makes me realize why I am friends with certain people.

“Cards Against Humanity… the black and white cards look innocuous enough…but as the game and choices progress morality falls out the window… Cards against Morality!!! Choices go from the sublime to the ridiculous & become downright offensive. It is frikken awesome. I laughed… I gasped… I cupped my mouth in disbelief. I was shocked but proved to myself that I can be just as horrible as the game suggests. I took absolute delight in the wickedness of this game. This one is definitely not for the faint hearted prudes, and risqué as hell. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Easy to get the hang of and I learned a few weird things too. NB most situations I found could be covered by the card option “Edible Underwear”. Piqued your interest didn’t I? Bwa hahaha” – Inka
