Board Game News: Hasbro enrages Star Wars Fans

Okay so by now I am sure I’ve put my opinion of Monopoly out there…. (KILL IT WITH FIRE!)

But it seems Hasbro has gone and stirred the hornet’s nest after they let Rey out of their oh so new Star Wars Monopoly . (They weren’t the only ones hey Target.com )

The fans had a field day and rushed to social media with #wheresrey some throwing the word sexist around, since the game included character tokens for Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader from the original trilogy and Kylo Ren and Finn from The Force Awakens.

Clearly this hit home really hard as Hasbro actually responded to the matter explaining why:

“The Star Wars: Monopoly game was released in September, months before the movie’s release, and Rey was not included to avoid revealing a key plot line that she takes on Kylo Ren and joins the Rebel Alliance, fans will see more Rey product hitting store shelves this month, including 6″ and 12″ Rey action figures.We are thrilled with the popularity of this compelling character and will continue to look for ways to showcase Rey across all of our product lines.”

Hasbro has also mentioned that the fan favourite Rey will be included in future editions of the Monopoly: Star Wars game releasing later in 2016 hoping to douse some flames.
