Word of whimsy is a whimsical (pardon the pun) card game that at face value can be described as a game for the whole family… Until you start playing it and you start wondering exactly how can a few innocent words be used in phrases making them sound super dirty! This wonderful little game is extremely easy to learn and so much fun to play. It is a game for 3-7 players (ages 15+) with a playtime of 20-30min. Every round will have you in stitches as you laugh at each other’s crazy ideas, creatures and titles.

Game Components:

The sleek and compact box contains 250 word cards of which 80 are double word cards. 50 Red prompt cards that state the question of the round. The point chips for the scoring are made of the usual cardboard pop outs. The best and worst idea of the game has to be the cardboard envelopes used to submit your cards. I say best since it makes shuffling multiple card submissions easier (Take a leaf from their book Cards Against Humanity) and I have to say worst as the cards tend to struggle to go into and come out of the envelopes with submissions containing more than 4 cards, as these envelopes are made slightly too small.

How to Play:

The game rules state that the player with the biggest mouth starts the game as the referee (this already caused a squabble). The Referee draws a red prompt card and reads it out loud. All the other players then draw 7 cards and chooses a card or cards to build a phrase like “Sexy Farting Psycho Hamster” to match the prompt card. They submit any number of cards between 1 and 7 in the envelope to the referee. The referee reads every submission out loud and after drying their tears they proceed to score the envelopes with the score tokens provided. The game proceeds to the player left of the referee and players draw up cards to a hand of 7. Once all the tokens are used the game ends and the player with the highest score wins. There are also 5 Special game variants that let you play the game in so many different ways, but one thing that stays the same is the endless fun and the laughter.

If your favourite body part is called the "Pink Midget" and a "Gentle Dancing Sausage Party" sounds like the worst idea EVER!! This game is definitely for you!
