TV Series News: CW Adds Another Speedster to The Flash

It’s hard to believe that The Flash is only two seasons in with everything that has happened in Central City. So far, we have encountered villains from the future, alternate dimensions and timelines, and now five speedsters soon to be six. On March 14, CW confirmed that Allison Paige will play Eliza Harmon, a female speedster known as Trajectory with an intriguing but short lived comic book past.

With dreams of becoming the next Kid Flash, Eliza Harmon makes her debut in 52 #17. Harmon was part of a Lex Luthor project called ‘Everyman’, an initiative tasked with granting non-metahumans super powers. Harmon was one of the candidates chosen thus taking on the alias Trajectory. Complications with the Exo-Gene leads Harmon to take a drug known as Spike, helping her in stabilizing the use of her powers. She blames Luthor for her current state, causing an argument between the two and her leaving the team.

Later sober and desperate to rejoin the team, Luthor gives Eliza another chance and they soon head off to fight a villian known as Blockbuster. At least he makes her believe that. In true villain style, Lex strips Eliza of her powers when she needs them the most, plummeting to her death from a building rooftop.

Allison Paige is mostly known for her role as Jill from Days of Our Lives. An interesting casting decision since CW tends to have emotionally demanding plots requiring expressive actors, a feat that soap actors have no problems achieving. Fans can expect a different character background from the CW team however, since they probably don’t have the rights to recreate such an origin story. Hopefully Trajectory will have longer screen-time on the show than in the comics, lasting for only four issues.
