Over the weekend was the launch event for CC Entertainment. A gaming and sundry store in Fourways, Johannesburg.”What makes this event special?” you may ask. Well someone was lucky enough to take home a PS4. CC Entertainment sells all the basic stuff you would expect from such a store (including PC peripherals) but what makes them really stand out is their sale of Xbox and PlayStation decals, covers and controller skins/jelly grips. They import a large array of the stuff and if you ask them for something specific (or just a cool idea you have) they’ve told me they will be able to fulfill it! I had the opportunity to cover this launch (and unfortunately not be able to earn any prizes Q_Q ) and was pleasantly surprised by the awesome vibe that permeated the place. The owner, Cy Sotiralis (as seen above), welcoming one and all as they approached the stand. They had some great specials in honour of the event and were making some fresh boerie rolls for everyone in attendance (at no charge I might add). At 13:00 the competition started, a crowd was gathered; ready for what lay before. The first step? Various items were tossed into the crowd including decals, skins and all manner of gaming swag.
Round 2 was gaming trivia, the winners of each question taking home games and other prizes. Finally it all came down to the PS4. Everyone waiting on bated breath. The name was read…silence another victor was chosen…more silence. Finally a name was read and cheers erupted from the crowd as the winner stepped up to collect his prize.

All in all, this seems like quite a cool place, a store run by a real gamer for real gamers, you should definitely check them out if you’re in the area. Cy has also told me that they have these types of events quite frequently so who knows, perhaps next time it may be you walking away with a console.
