Greetings Star Wars fans! In honour of this special day, allow me to introduce you to the Hasbro BB-8! Perfect for terrorising your dogs and the scaring the neighbour’s kid.
This little guy features a detailed body and is about 15-20 cm tall and about 10 cm wide.
He comes with an infrared remote control that uses two AAA batteries with the droid itself requiring another four AA batteries. His head is attached to the body using magnets (although it will occasionally fall off).
It has an interior motor which can be removed by twisting the plastic, exterior shell and this is used to propel this cute little guy forward. To turn him off, you need to hold him upside down until his sleep sounds start kicking in.
Although he doesn’t move very fast, it is quite fun to roll him around a room. While moving, he will occasionally make these cute little droid sounds and if left idle for a while; will turn his head and make some small movements giving the little guy a bit of personality. The remote itself has four buttons (two in each set), half of which are responsible for the forward and backwards movement with the other, controlling which direction his head faces (and therefor which direction he will move).
I found the controls to be quite easy to grasp although the remote would sometimes lose a little bit of signal if not pointed directly at him.
He doesn’t do much more than what I’ve mentioned before but seems to have just enough flair to make kids fall in love with him at first sight.
For purchasing options, the only place I could find this model of BB-8 was on Takelot for R1200.
And with that, the end of my BB-8 Spotlight; we’ve got plenty of content coming your way today so stay tuned and May the 4th be with you.
