What’s it about?

Last Days In The Desert is a film which focuses on the events of one of the least talked about sections of the Bible, the tempting of Satan of Jesus over a 40 day period. The story itself is centred around a family in the midst of a conflict and Jesus getting involved in a strangely human way.

What I thought

Now I am not a religious person and I would have to say this movie still misses the mark for me. Most of the movie didn’t seem to have a point and sometimes it didn’t even feel like anything was happening. The music track is overly loud and is especially noticeable when the characters are whispering. Yes, they play loud era music over a vocal track and often left me wondering what was being said. Having said all that Ewan McGregor definitely showed off his acting talent especially when portraying not only his character but those guiding him through the desert and that often lead to the most interesting scenes in the entire movie. I could also imagine what that sort of fasting, heat and manual labour would do to one’s psyche.

Ewan McGregor has been cast as Jesus of Nazereth in what can possibly be summed up as one of the strangest and completely unexpected movies to date. But how does it ultimately perform? The entire movie leads up to a few pivotal moments which could be found as touching but then there are additional scenes following that don't serve any purpose besides ending off the story we all already know about Jesus.
