Ahead of last Friday’s Pokémon Direct, trademarks and logos for Pokémon Sun and Moon were leaked onto the internet. People were pretty skeptical about these leaks as they obviously didn’t follow the naming conventions of previous Pokémon games but were still hopeful that Nintendo would do something interesting. Along came the Direct and all was confirmed, we will be heading into the 7th generation of Pokémon later this year in the form of Pokémon Sun and Moon on the 3DS.

The only problem is, besides an announcement trailer, we don’t know much about the games. The only major feature of the game that was announced was that the game would be available in both Traditional and Simplified Chinese. While not the most exciting feature, it does mean more people are able to enjoy Pokémon and that could never be a bad thing.

While nothing has really been confirmed for the game, there are still some wonderful rumours that are going around as to where the game will be set and what exactly it will involve and frankly, based on Gen 6, they all seem quite possible. It seems strange that they’re not making a Pokémon Z as they usually do make sequel games for the main entries but maybe they’re mixing it up again. There are so many unanswered questions but hopefully we’ll get some answers in next weeks CoroCoro magazine, something to at least put our minds to rest.

Anyway, I’m excited to be getting an all new Pokémon at the end of the year and I can’t wait to see what they intend on implementing into the game. I sincerely hope that Nintendo does the 20th anniversary title justice and that Sun and Moon are able to deliver an incredible experience.

The best person to offer the worst opinion. Paul's interests include adding 100 hour JRPGs to his backlog and dark walks through dungeons. You'll probably find him rambling on about old man Nintendo or that crazy newfangled eSports thingy.
