With the announcement that Indiana Jones will spawn another terrible sequel in 2019 and with Steven Spielberg at the helm yet again we find ourselves suffering from the ‘oh no not again’ syndrome and many fans agree – further sequels are a big mistake.

Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull Sucked

Beginning on a high note and quickly deteriorating into a mess of botched ideas and shockingly stupid concepts that made no sense, Indy 4 left fans outraged. This film took the idea of Indy and basically pooped all over it with aliens, vine swinging, telepathic Nazi’s and even had the audacity to attempt to pass off Shia LeBeouf’s horribly named character, Mutt Williams as the possible new Indiana Jones.

This film tanked so badly and left everyone with such a bad after taste for the franchise that any further attempts from this point onward will forever be compared to The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull and not the far superior previous films.

In 2019 you’ll go to the cinema with – ‘OH MAN, I hope they didn’t do something like The Crystal Skull again.’ And then you’ll probably end up leaving with – ‘ OH MY GOD. What the hell was that supposed to be?’.

We Don’t Want A ‘Replacement’ Indy

Look – I know Harrison Ford won’t live forever and he’s already 72. At some point he’s going to be too old for this kind of stuff and will inevitably take more passive, less action packed roles due to his age. He’ll most likely go the way of Sean Connery, taking less important yet no less amazing roles in films where he won’t be the central focus all the time and eventually just fade into obscurity.

Why do you think they killed Han Solo in Star Wars? Their obviously petrified that Harrison Ford might die before they make the next two and simply don’t want to take the risk of putting such a seasoned actor in a very long term plan for a film series. They already replaced Harrison Ford with a younger actor for the Han Solo Standalone Film. As for the further sequels – quite frankly nobody wants to see a 72 year old Han Solo running around still trying to get up to the same tricks he got up to when he was 20.

That’s the thing though – in Star Wars, Han Solo is NOT the central focus of the entire story. The franchise is not called Han Solo Wars. It’s called Star Wars. He CAN be replaced in prequel stories by a lookalike. The entire universe does not hinge on who portrays Han Solo as he’s not what Star Wars is about.

Indiana Jones however is about Indiana Jones and you just can’t replace the original, not in a sequel, especially not to the roar of disapproving fans. That is the single and simple fact Spielberg seems to be conveniently ignoring.

We simply don’t want Spielberg to keep thinking up crappy things for poor decrepit Indy to do, pumping out movies that suck and nonchalantly replacing Harrison Ford somewhere down the line with some idiot like Shia Lebleh just for the sake of making more sequels.

By all means make 2 more films but have the common sense to have our beloved Indy written out properly and die with some dignity near the end of the 6th film and more importantly – don’t attempt to replace him in any of the sequels. Indiana Jones would be better off dying valiantly doing what he loves with no further attempts to continue an already messed up, incoherently written story that immediately started going down the hill the moment Spielberg turned to one of his friends and went – ” Oh, you know what would be cool? ”

I’m sure eventually some guy somewhere in Hollywood will get the bright idea to reboot Indiana Jones entirely and cast someone like Chris Pratt in the lead who might actually not do too badly at it…but we’re more likely to end up with some talentless idiot holding the whip like Garrett Hedlund, Armie Hammer or Zachary Levi.

Despite the voices of millions of objections to any further attempts at continuing the franchise – the yet untitled Indiana Jones 5 is set to hit theatres on July 19 2019.

Werner is a strange one...he quotes a lot of things...incoherently I might add, also he reviews stuff from time to time. We still don't truly understand what he is or where he came from.

To quote him verbatim:

Make sure they see my twitter handle so I can get hookers and drugs.
