Let me take you back to 1988, that was the year where my gaming fascination began I remember playing Lode Runner on a 386 with MS DOS from a 5.25” floppy disk listening to the drive as it was loading a new adventure.

From there my journey got more exciting as I got hooked on gaming with Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Rise of the triad, Duke Nukem 3D, Diablo, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars and so the list goes on from FPS to MMORPG I just love everything gaming, from AAA studio releases to Independent developers the list of games just keeps getting longer. And with every new generation of hardware the journey will never end, just look at the difference from 1993 until now its mind blowing what developers can achieve today and just imagine the future I can’t want to see what will be coming our way.

Doom from 1993, a friend from my childhood that brings back so many memories.

Doom from 2016, this is just one example of a classic that has evolved and will most probably be for younger people today what the original is for me.

As you can probably tell from my first paragraph I’m not a spring chicken anymore, but that does not mean I enjoy my favourite hobby any less. My name is Friedrich Rabie or Fred to my friends and I live in a little town in Mpumalanga known as Balfour, I have been working in the IT industry since 1999 and started my own company in 2012 in my home town my day job consists of running my own PC and Console repair shop and in the evenings I play games either alone or with my wife and also my friends as we either LAN with PCs or Consoles.

The platform does not matter its the fun and excitement of gaming.

And the following might ruffle a few feathers, but here goes anyway, I don’t believe in the PC versus Console war. There I said it! At the end of the day it doesn’t matter if you play on a PC or any of the Consoles out there. We are all people enjoying gaming. That’s right we are all gamers! To me, it’s all about the experience we get as gamers as we explore new worlds and live the life of heroes, or in some cases the villain. After all. It’s good to be bad, right? As far as I’m concerned, there are only two types of people. Gamers and Non-Gamers, but don’t get me wrong. Most people who don’t play have not found the right game to start their addiction.

You might be asking “Why am I here?”. Well, let me enlighten you, I will be reviewing games on various platforms and give you my honest opinion. My writing is here for you to enjoy on Geek Node and maybe…just maybe get some Non-Gamers to try something new, so until next time happy gaming everyone.

I'm 35 obsessed with anything gaming and technology related. Staying in a quiet town does have its drawbacks as we don't have the fastest internet, but that wont stop me from enjoying my passion for gaming. Just a quick shout out to my lovely wife who supports my dreams and my friends and all the crazy moments we have encountered in games.
