The argument between digital and physical is a well established one with numerous debates on the price and convenience angle. Digital games have been strangely priced given that they’re exactly the same price as physical games, but they have a lot less benefits. You can buy a physical release right now at a store, put it in your console, install it and play it. After you’re done with the game you can sell it at a marked down price whereas with digital games, you’re stuck with it. But what if you can sell back some of your digital games?

The question was spotted in a recent Xbox survey:

So they’re asking if you would sell a game for 10% its purchase price. Say for example you buy a game for R800 on the Xbox store, you can get R80 back in credit. Not the greatest incentive if I’m honest.

I’d be down with this if the percentage is a bit higher. Maybe 20% would be decent, but getting such a low return on a game would be venturing into “not worth it” territory. Still, it’s an interesting idea. We can’t do anything with our digital games after they’re purchased and at least having the option would be a start. Of course, nothing is set in stone and Microsoft probably just asked the question to judge potential interest in such a feature.
