After the launch of Mass Effect in 2007 I was completely hooked on this game franchise. I finished the game numerous times with different decisions (Renegade, Paragon and the Evasive Perfect Ending). Needless to say that things wasn’t all that different when Mass Effect 2 & 3 were launched.

Then in November 2012, former BioWare Edmonton executive producer, Casey Hudson tweeted “We’re in early stages of designing a completely new Mass Effect game. What would you want to see in it?” I lost…my mind. Finally Mass Effect 4 would be a reality! (They later asked very nicely that we don’t refer to it as Mass Effect 4) BioWare then announced that they will be using DICE’s Frosbite 3 engine, much like Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The game was officially announced to be in development at E3 2014. Although this came with some bittersweet news; BioWare emphasized that the original Trilogy was done and that they were now focusing on another story, within the Mass Effect universe, long after the events of the original Mass Effect Trilogy, and located in the Andromeda Galaxy. Players will be able to choose between male or female human characters (I really hope they make other races playable). We will also be able to drive around in the New Mako (a six wheeler buggy we drove in the first Mass Effect game). A multiplayer component was also confirmed

Release for Mass Effect Andromeda is set for Q4 2016.

BioWare has said that “We knew we wanted to start with a foundation composed of the best parts of any Mass Effect game: exciting new worlds to discover, great characters, and intense action. At the same time, we clearly wanted to expand the definition of what you should expect from a Mass Effect game.”
