From a young sickly girl who loves music to an all-star composer for a pop-star group.

Uta No Prince-Sama, based on the visual novel series by Broccoli which is available on PlayStation Portable, focuses more on the female audience by bringing in the much-loved reverse/male harem strategy.

After an incident occurred in which Haruka Nanami found herself frightened she decides to attend a music school in hopes of one day composing for her favourite idol. At Saotome Academy, a leading vocational school for both idols, composers and performers alike, she learns that most all of the staff members are well-renowned idols.

While the headmaster eavesdrops and makes comical appearances each time by jumping out of nowhere with a crazy laugh there is something likable about this former star. Attaching yourself to one of the six men is quite easy and putting yourself in the soft-hearted Haruka Nanami’s shoes is even easier.

In order to graduate she must compose a song with one of the striving idols in the Academy. Throw in the mix a mysterious seventh man that appears and gives her a valuable piece of information that leads to her coming up with a solution for the six idols wanting to collaborate with her. With fierce competition and the attention of six young idols her hopes of accomplishing her dream might just come true.

In my honest opinion, their compilation of men, music and scenery gives a girl just enough of a push to imagine herself in Nanami’s shoes. Watching every episode I laughed, got excited at the prospect of a near-kiss; of which there were a few moments where it might have happened; and cried with them. Though not as heart-wrenching as you would imagine, there is a certain ‘pizazz’ to the story.

The female role is well portrayed, given her before mentioned past and the males are well diverse enough to give you a taste of either a bad-boy, a tender heart or a casanova. I know I already have my favourite male cast character.

As for the story progression overall; each of the men were focused on exclusively in an episode revolving around each of them, it would give them a chance to get to know Haruka Nanami individually; I do feel that two of the men were not given as much attention as the others. I would have liked to see a bit more development on those characters.
