NVidia is well-known for several things, 3 of them being:

Good day one ‘Game Ready’ drivers, the GeForce experience application and ‘free’ game codes when you buy a new GPU from them.

Soon those three things will be tied to the hip according to a report by PC World

For those on team RED NVidia GeForce experience removes the perceived headache of tweaking each setting in a game and just giving you an ‘optimal’ experience and automatically updating your GPU drivers to the latest and greatest.

Since its inception it has grown to include shadow play, twitch streaming, Shield streaming and even giving a remote user access to play your games as a 2 nd player or primary player, game depending. (Currently in BETA)

More information on it here: http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience

Currently any gamer with a supported GeForce card can simply download the GeForce experience application, install it and enjoy the benefits, but soon NVidia will only allow registered accounts to connect to the service.

This means that unless you register a valid email address with them, you won’t get access too day one game ready drivers, and it might possibly stop the sale of ‘NVidia game codes’ on the open market by tying the codes to the specific hardware it was handed out with. (Something NVidia tested recently with select Titan owners, but have not officially confirmed yet).

From NVidia’s Sean Pelletier:

We kind of have two camps in terms of gamers.

“On one hand you have the gamer that’s just casually playing things here and there, using their system for daily use and gaming on the side. They don’t want to be inundated with these [Game Ready] drivers…”

“On the other side of the equation you have enthusiast gamers, who get excited about preloading a game, who want to play a game the day it comes out with all the bells and whistles.

“That’s obviously the demographic we’re looking at for Game Ready drivers. We’re targeting GFE as a single-source destination for those gamers.”

This change is sure to anger gamers, but honestly the only one we can legitimately be upset about is change with regards to Game Ready drivers.

Will you be willing to register your email address to reap the benefits from GeForce Experience or will your next GPU be a RED one?

Does the resale of game keys factor into your decision when you buy new hardware?

When I asked my mom where I was from she said they caught a wild ape and shaved it… she weren’t joking.

This primate has an unhealthy obsession with all things tech and pc gaming and when not in front of his Battlestation he can be found roaming the Cape wildlands with his motorcycle.
