So a couple of you may remember that recently Sai did a preview on Herolike . Well, good news for those of you have been eagerly waiting for the game to head out of early access – Herolike is finally out, and here is our review.

Herolike is a rogue like RPG game with a hack n ’slash style gameplay. A dark lord is trying to take over the world via the earth stone that holds it together. It is up to you to pick between four different heroes and set out on your quest to stop him and save the world. Herolike starts off giving you the option between five different heroes. The Mountain Guardian –An axe wielding dwarf with a melee style combat. The Chosen Shaman using her power to command the elements. The Master Hunter- A bow wielding Elf with ranged combat. The Northern Barbarian – Wielding a two handed axe that deals tremendous damage and lastly, The Misfit Trickster – A Trickster wielding two daggers with abilities in deception and trickery. Each character is equipped with their main attack and then a set of special abilities that require the use of mana. After choosing your character you’re presented with a horizontal style map filled with little flags known as encounters. There are a total of 50 encounters, made up of four different type’s .Friendly, hostile, defense and gamble. These encounters are randomly generated and you must choose your own path of encounters to the end. Hostile encounters put you in the middle of a war zone where you have to defeat all the enemies to win. Defense encounters give you a relic to defend from the enemies. Friendly encounters present you with a problem to solve, giving you a choice between being the good or bad guy. The choice you make will affect the reward you receive. The last encounter and probably the one I enjoyed the most is Gamble encounters which randomly chooses your next encounter. The rewards when completing an encounter are as follows; gold for buying equipment, health potions and boosters, Renown which affects difficulty and encounters and materials used to construct buildings in your town. The town consists of a variety of shops and buildings to help you on your quest. You can buy potions, weapons and armor in the town but probably the most important would be building the “second chance “altar (Guardian Altar). Seeing as the game is rogue like, meaning if you die you stay dead, this statue gives you a second chance to carry on with your current game instead of having to start the whole story over again. In my opinion Herolike is much harder than it should be. Casual gamers might find it overwhelming with death being permanent and the increasing difficulty off encounters. The gameplay does get repetitive after an hour or so. It is a fun game to play in your spare time and it’s something unusual. There just isn’t enough content to keep me playing for longer periods. Herolike is a very simple game which offers a good challenge.
